Coronavirus: CBSE to conduct 10th & 12th Exams Only 29 Main Subjects

New Delhi: The class 10 and 12 examinations for 29 main subjects, which are crucial for the promotion and admission to the higher educational institution, will be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), which was announced by the Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Wednesday.

He said, “CBSE will conduct exams for only 29 main subjects that are crucial and will provide adequate notice for the same. For the remaining subjects, the board exams will not be held by the Board, and the instruction for marking and assessment will be issued shortly.”

Earlier, Due to the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak, the exams were postponed.

The board releases the following press issue:

Worldwide spread of COVID 19 and the countrywide lockdown, and queries are been raised by the stakeholders regarding the academic future of students. The following are the one-time measures advised/informs to the schools affiliated to the Board.

For Class 1 to 8

Students studying in class 1 to 8 may be promoted to the next grade/class. After consulting with the NCERT, this advisory is being issued.

For Class 9 and 11

It has been bringing to our notice that many of the schools affiliated to CBSE have completed their examination, evaluation, and promotion process for the students who were studying in classes 9 and 11 in the 2019 – 20 academic session. However, there is still some school that hasn’t been able to do so.

Class 10 and 12 examination schedule

At this point of time, it will be difficult for the CBSE board to decide and announce the new schedule of the 10 and 12 examinations.

Board Exams Subject

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic situation, the BoardBoard was unable to conduct exams on eight examination days. Also, due to the law and order situation in North East Delhi, the Board was unable to conduct exams on four examination days, while few students from around the district were not able to give in the tests on six examination days.

Considering the present situation, the CBSE has decided the following:

The main subjects required for the promotion and crucial for admission of higher education will be conducted by the Board.

Examination for the remaining subject will not be conducted by the CBSE Board, instruction in such cases for making/assessment will be issued separately by the Board.

As and when the Board is in a position, it will conduct examination only for the 29 subjects.
